How the Muscat rate is set
Muscat is Oman's capital and its largest gold market, with the Mutrah souq in the old port district the best-known place to buy.
The figures above are the Oman national gold rate, which is what jewellers in Muscat price against. There is no separate Muscat rate for the metal itself - two shops in the same street will quote different totals for the same chain because their making charges differ, not because their gold costs a different amount.
